CASEIFICIO SAN LEOPOLDO S.p.A. “La Latteria”
Caseificio San Leopoldo S.p.A. “La Latteria”, founded in December 2001, operates in the production and marketing,
through small and large distribution, of cheese, butter and milk derivatives.
Caseificio San Leopoldo started up with the purchase of two existing firms, Caseificio Davoli (of which both the area and the plant were absorbed), which is currently the operational center, and Caseificio Lago Monate, of which the brands were taken over.
Today still, the two main brands owned are
Lago Monate and Davoli fresco di natura.
Since February 2006 Caseificio San Leopoldo S.p.A. “La Latteria” has become property of the Cooperative Society La Lombarda, an important Italian association of milk producers, that constantly guarantees the quality of the raw materials
used in Caseificio San Leopoldo, through the direct supply of milk from selected farms, owned by the members and located in Lombardy, Emilia Romagna and Piedmont.
Starting in 2006 the short supply chain of Caseificio San Leopoldo S.p.A. “La Latteria” has become a fact.
The plant, with its 22 employees, is situated in Niviano di Rivergaro (PC) and stands on an area of 16,000 sqm, of which 3,100 represent the surface dedicated to the production.
The renovation that was carried out allowed for the renewal of the cheese factory that, while maintaining its traditional processing techniques, avails itself of the support of modern technologies and state of the art plants for the branch.
Caseificio San Leopoldo S.p.A. “La Latteria” applies procedures based on the H.A.C.C.P. (Hazard Analysis of Critical Control Point) method to its whole production, so as to avoid (microbiological or chemical-physical) contamination of the products, thus guaranteeing the extremely high quality of the finished products. Furthermore, all cheeses that are commercialized are carefully selected, preferably among the partners to whom the Cooperative Society La Lombarda confers its milk and, where possible, among D.O.P. certified products (Grana Padano, Parmigiano Reggiano, Buffalo Mozzarella, Taleggio, Gorgonzola).
The range of cheeses we offer our customers boasts a total of 25 different products, made up of typical cheeses and
local traditions, distributed between the two main brands (with the possibility to differentiate packaging and/or portioning).
The Lago Monate line identifies products of great historical/geographical value like Stracchino, Squacquero, Butter, Bacio di Latte (milky kiss), and the Primo Sale cheeses.
The Davoli fresco di natura line represents a line of products traditionally bound to their production area, like Ricotta or Pasta Filata cheeses (Mozzarella, Filone, Trecciona), Scamorza cheeses (white and smoked), Caciocavallo and Provolone, enriched as a novelty in the Sfiziavoli, slices of spiced provolone.
